Sue let us know that she was heading to Williamstown to see Mia Dyson play at Commonwealth Reserve. I hadn’t heard about here before Saturday when Sue mentioned her, so while driving home from Geelong yesterday we loaded up some of her music on YouTube and gave it a little listen. Liking what we heard we’d decided we’d join Sue and her friends, Denise and Marie, to take in the event.
One of the good things about living in Melbourne is how throughout the summer months (in particular) there is always something on. And most often it’s free to attend. Mia’s performance was part of the “Sounds of Summer” events being put on in public spaces by the Hobsons Bay Council.
We missed the support act, but Mia went on around 3, we joined the girls on the picnic rugs and listen to the tunes. Of course I didn’t sit still for long… with camera in hand I was up and about, snapping away.
I was also checking my Twitter while I was on the way and noticed that someone I follow on Twitter was going to attend. Thankfully, she’s a fan of the selfie so when I saw her in the crowd I took the plunge and decided to introduce myself. Kim is just a nice in real life as she seemed to be on Twitter. I also ran into a member of camera club.
