I was going to put these images with the last lot, but jeepers I had taken more “number” photos than I thought and more crane photos than I thought so I thought I’d better create a post just for the crane photos.
So far I’ve made 180 cranes. Almost one fifth of the way towards the 1,000 cranes to get a wish. Of course that wish will go towards Japan and its people. Too often the headlines disappear and our minds are onto another story while the country and its people continue to struggle with the troubles that have hit them and couldn’t be sorted in the time it takes to push the headlines aside.
The cranes are my way of remembering the Japanese people, and the continuing toll they suffer from the earthquakes and the fallout from the trouble they are having at the nuclear power plants.
I guess from studying Japanese for six years at school I kinda feel a connection to the culture. I’ve recently been starting to look into the language again. It’s not like I went on to use it, so it has been pretty dormant in my head for so long.
I downloaded a couple of Japanese vocabulary apps for my iPhone and have been running through the quizzes and am pretty happy with the amount of words that still come easy. The Kanji I’m buggered at, but I’ve always been buggered at that. I know a few of them but I don’t know most of the ones we had to learn for the HSC.
But there you go, so now I present all of the crane photos today. They represent 170 of the 180 I’ve made so far.
It’s a bird, not a plane and definitely not superman.
