Happy Birthday to Me

Today is my birthday and it’s been a good day, well a good week.

I received a few cool gifts starting with my new battery grip from David for my 5D MKII. Making it much easier to take photos in portrait mode and letting me carry two batteries at once. It also makes the camera generally easier to carry and hold.

On Saturday we went to Nikki and Ben’s and had the afternoon and then some dinner with them. Got the opportunity to take some photos of the kids. It was a great time.

Nikki had made me two amazing presents. A new wallet with panels of astronauts on them, it’s awesome. Has enough pockets for all my cards and a nice big money section. I don’t doubt the amount of time and effort that has gone into the wallet. I know Nikki has been working on it for some time and has even created a few prototypes. Nikki is an amazing human and I feel much love.

Also in my bounty was a gorgeous knitted doggin teddy. He’s immediately become one of my favourites. Just adorable and as my friend Sue said when she saw him. He has built-in personality.

Finally in the bounty was my Lego digger. The kids picked it out for me. Props to Amelie who Nikki tells me wanted to get the biggest Lego set she could find. But Elliot insisted on the digger which was awesome cause we could play with it together.

My presents

Then we had an awesome dinner that David and Nikki put together. Bean burritos and tacos. Delish and filling. But of course there was room left over for Baked Cheesecake.

Today I opened the cards I got in the post from Dad and David’s parents. Made out like a bandit I did. Cash is always awesome.

I used some of the money today to buy myself a present. A small artwork by local artist CrumpArt. CrumpArt has some other artwork I want to buy and will probably get some more next month.

Yay my mum just rang me. I was getting to think she had forgotten :D

It’s been a good day. I’m happy and grateful for all the years I’ve lived with wonderful people in my life. And I look forward to many more years to come.
