2009 Goals

Sure I f*%ked up on my 2008 goals. I don’t think I made any of them. So the first goal for 2009 is to keep an eye on my goals. Put them in my face and to be reminded of them every day. So without further ado here are my goals for 2009.

  • Take photos every day.
And in that vein restart my failed 365 days from January 1, 2009 through to December 31, 2009. It will also mean connecting with more models and doing more people photos. I’ve had a great time in 2008 developing my skills in workshops, time to put it into practice for myself. See my own visions coming to life.
  • Get fit.
Ending my 35th year on earth, coming up to my 35th birthday, I need to get back into the swing of things. I bought a new Nike sensor for my shoes and have to get new shoes as my old ones are a little worse for wear. Have to start working out again. Build a plan and stick to it.
  • Get well.
Probably fits in with the Get Fit goal, one will lead to the other but I’ve had a bad 2008 on the health front so it’s going to be good to get back into a more healthy lifestyle. It will include more healthy eating.
  • Start something new.
Our lives should be about constant self-discovery. Many people who grow to an old age attribute it to a good diet and an active mind. So doing new things is always good. Early 2009 this will include building my first iPhone app.
  • Connect more.
Sure this can include new friends but more so relates to my core group of friends of whom I am the slacker who does not call. Having a fear of the phone I rarely use it. I have an account on every social networking site, but rarely use them and to be honest most of my close friends don’t use them and a couple don’t even use the Internet very often.
  • Write more.
I always used to update this thing a lot more than I do now. There used to be more whimsical tales and musings here. I stopped writing that sort of stuff down in the last year or so, but I think I need to get back into it. To help keep my mind clear.
  • Travel more and see more.
Neither David or I have travelled much in our lives. Except for some travel with his Dad’s work as a kid. We’re both workers and have been since our youth. Often putting work before anything else. Because of this we’re not very well travelled. Come April 2009 we’ll have been together for 12 years and in that time we’ve taken two holidays. Sure we’ve had time off but it has usually been spent going to see family or moving house or something else that isn’t really about us spending time with us. So I’d like us to do more. Having found someone to take care of the pets at home I think we can make this happen more often.

So that’s the gist of my goals for 2009. I’ll flesh them each out more over the next week or so. Put measures in place and reminders here and there to ensure they are kept on top of. And of course I’ll track them here too.

Here’s hoping the world becomes a better place in 2009. That people stop fighting and come to understand that underneath it all we are the same and that all we really need is to love and be loved for who we are not condemed or destroyed because we may be a little different from one another. Smile people. We only get one life, why waste it fighting?
