This weekend is the Bacchus Marsh Strawberry and Cherry Festival. The lovely Živković ladies joined us for a spot of strawberry and cherry picking before hitting the main street to check out the festivities there.
Our first stop was Naturipe Fruits to pick our own Strawberries and Cherries. You have to pay a fee to pick, it’s just $4 and given that you can eat as you pick, you’ll likely eat your four dollars worth quite quickly as you gather the sizeable strawberries and ripened cherries.
There was a fast moving line to get in, a slower moving line to get back out as you weigh and pay $10 per kilo for the fruit you’ve gathered. We copped a bit of rain while we were picking, but the day fined up again to become quite warm.
After the picking we checked out some more local goods, had sausage sizzle with the ladies of the CWA, and picked up some honey and honeycomb from a local bee keeper.
We of course took our cameras along and took photos of the girls and some of the locals. Sue also took some photos of us which I’ve included here. It was a great day, spent with great friends.
The festival is an annual event, so keep an eye out to add it to your 2015 calendar.
