Did you see 28 Days Later (2002)? A disappointment for those who thought it was a follow-up to the 2000 Sandra Bullock movie 28 Days, but an amazing movie of madness and infection for everyone else. A zombie movie like no other.
In 28 Weeks Later it’s a whole lot more of the same, and not much of anything else. The virus, thought to be exterminated has returned, brought back via an infected carrier. Pure gore and grossness ensues.
If you have not seen 28 Days Later it’s a good bet you won’t be watching this one. But if you did you’ll know the one moment that I think had everyone cringing… think about it… yep that’s right… the thumbs pushed into the eyeballs. It was one of the most horrible things I have ever seen. So powerful and violent it stays with you.
It is therefore no surprise that we see it again in 28 Weeks Later, but in a more intimate way. And keep an eye out for the scene in the Tube.
What I don’t get about this movie is motive. What drives the infected? What makes them act as they do, attacking only the uninfected and never turning on each other? These are questions which I don’t recall getting answers for.
Watch it if you saw the first one and have a craving for more, give them both a miss if blood makes you woozy and watch 28 Days with Sandra Bullock instead.
